Studies in Russia are based on an educational system, divided into general and vocational education. They offer an opportunity to obtain high quality, prestigious and internationally recognized higher education.

Professional training on the other hand is made up of secondary and undergraduate studies; offered in Colleges, Universities and Institutes.

What are the different levels of higher education in Russia?

The higher education system is divided into three levels:

This qualification is awarded after 4 years of study, and attests that the awardee possess theoretical knowledge of the field studied. At the end of this university study, you obtain a degree certificate according to the chosen profession which gives you the right to practice your profession and also access to proceed to Master’s programme.

Graduate programme : Master

The Master's program is designed for analysis, Consulting, research activities, aimed at preparing students for careers in Russian and international companies. It deepens your knowledge and allows you to specialize in a more specific field. This qualification is awarded after 6 years of study; after which you can practice more professionally and also opt for Scientific research at Doctorate level at the end of the study program.

Bachelor and Master’s Degree awarded by Russian universities are equivalent to the same degrees delivered in European universities. It is important to note that Russia is part of the Decree on the Bologna Convention and Degree Certificates awarded by Russian Universities are recognized in most European countries.

Undergraduate + graduate. Professional

Unlike the Bachelor, the professional programme is designed for more in-depth training and professional practice. This qualification is awarded after 5 years of study. This "professional" student training program is oriented towards professional practice. With this Professional certificate, you have the possibility of engaging in professional activities, or to proceed immediately to Doctorate programme. This grade is a prerequisite for the Doctorate programme. As regards this programme, it is majorly for those in the medical, military, technical fields (IT security, design of production machines, mechanics and others).

*Secondary school level- this implies 10 to 12 years of secondary education depending on country

Postgraduate programme. Doctorate: higher qualification (scientific research)

This degree is a post-graduate study program issued to a senior research student who has conducted in-depth research in a specific area or subject. Doctorate programme is divided into several parts:

• - Educational

• - Practice

• - Research work

Upon completion of the Doctorate programme, you need to defend your thesis after which the Doctorate degree -PhD will be conferred on you.

In addition to the Doctorate programme, there are other post-graduate studies that offers higher graduate certificates

• - Postgraduate Military training programme of the Armed Forces Tertiary Institution as well as the Russian Federation Ministry of Internal Affairs.

• - Internship programme in a hospital under the supervision of the senior Medical officers which confers on the medical student the right to practice professionally.

• - Training programme for high level professionals in the sphere of arts after which the graduate acquires the right to teach in his field.
