OPPORTUNITY TO WORK

Under what condition can foreign students work in Russia? And how do you get a work permit?

Foreign students do not require any authorization if they are employed by universities (or related organizations) outside of their study hours (including during holidays). In all other cases, you must be of legal age (18 or over) to have official authorization from the Department of Immigration Services (under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation).

On the other hand, students from member states of the Europe Eurasian Economic Community (Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan) do not require a work permit.

WORK PERMIT

The work permit is issued exclusively to full-time students at state-accredited universities. It is important to remember, that by obtaining the work permit, you can only exercise the job mentioned on the work permit, and in the region (city), where the permit was issued.

WORK PERMIT VALIDITY PERIOD

The authorization is issued for a period of one year and must be extended later for the duration period on the employment contract. In case the student quits his studies, the authorization will be cancelled.

But, if the student changes jobs, before the end of his authorization period, he can however exercise his employment with the authorization obtained previously. For this, he must inform the Department of Immigration Services under the direction of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, within 7 days of his new employment.
